Good-Bye and Moving Along

By Laura Spitznogle

The West Virginia University Alumni magazine has undergone quite a transformation during the past five years.

Under the direction of Editor Tony Cook, the magazine evolved into a quality piece more suited to meet the needs of our alumni. The design of the front cover, the design of the interior, and the editorial content has changed. Tony took pride in his work and wanted our alumni to take pride in their alumni magazine.

As a man who is talented at what he does, he's not one to pass up a good opportunity. Tony accepted a job at Tulane University as the director of communications for the health sciences center's office of advancement.

We wish Tony good luck and know he will thrive there. We also thank him for his hard work on the alumni magazine and other University projects.

We hope to continue to elevate the magazine to a level which is competitive with other alumni magazines across the country. Even more importantly, the magazine needs to keep the communications going strong between WVU and you, the alumni.

Although this editor's column will cease to exist in its current form, it will be replaced with a new nostalgia piece each issue.

The magazine will continue to be published on-line. You can also check out our on-line version at www.ia.wvu.edu/~magazine. There, you can find issues of the magazine from 1998 until the present. The site is almost a mirror image of the printed piece; sometimes music or extra photos are available on-line. We might even ask questions for story ideas or contributions in the near future. For this issue, look on-line for more text and photos that go with the story "This is no Looney Toon" on page 38.

There is a lot going on at WVU and we want to keep you connected. If you have suggestions for the nostalgia piece or any other part of the magazine we encourage you to let us know. Letters to the editor are published and encouraged.
