Two current Career Success Academy participants, both of whom landed jobs early in their senior year of study at WVU, tell what the CSA experience means to them:
Anthony Tomaro, Phillipsburg, New Jersey, senior, Industrial Engineering:
"WVU already offers the quality education that you need to do a job, but in the Career Success Academy you also obtain the experience necessary to go out and get the job--something that's just as important as your academics.
One thing that's really nice about CSA is the internship. Whether it be a sophomore, junior, or senior-year internship, it's a great way to make contacts that could lead to a future job. And it looks good to have experience in a specialized field."Stacey Heldreth, Fairmont, West Virginia, senior, Industrial Management Systems Engineering:
"The Career Success Academy focuses directly on what you need to do, and how you need to do it. It gives us pointers about what to expect. You become aware of your strengths while working to improve your weaknesses.
CSA helped me develop my résumé and improve my interviewing skills. I've gone to about fifteen interviews, and I've found that I'm relaxed, not nervous at all.
It's a lot of work. It takes a lot of time. But it all pays off in the long run."
